About the Event
Dr. Yaser GAMALLAT, PhD, pursued his BPharm undergraduate program in Pharmacy at Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University. Following that, he served as a Pharmacist and Teaching staff in Medical Universities in Yemen. He completed his Master's degree and PhD in 2019 at Dalian Medical University in China, where his research focused on Colorectal Cancer and other cancer types like Leukemia, lungs, liver, and Melanoma. From 2019 to 2021, Yaser worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at Guangzhou Women's and Children Medical Center. In 2021, he relocated to Canada, where he currently serves as a Research Associate at Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary. His affiliations include the Dept of Oncology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, Tom Baker Cancer Center, and Calgary New Cancer Center. Yaser's research explores various aspects, such as the genomic landscape in prostate cancer patients to identify novel biomarkers for early diagnosis or targeted therapy, as well as mechanisms underlying chemotherapy resistance. He has an impressive record of over 30 publications in high-impact international journals with more than 600 citations (H-index 12). Additionally, he holds two registered patents in genomic editing. He actively participates in esteemed organizations like the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), Alberta Prostate Cancer Research Initiative (APCaRI), and the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope Cancer Research Initiative Canada. Yaser's accomplishments have been recognized with awards, including the Excellent Researchers Award from the Chinese government and Howard Research Excellence Award from University of Calgary.
